Are you also looking to optimize your work processes and to work more efficient?

When you are active in a technology-oriented, tangible product-based business, there are a lot of moving parts in new product development.

No matter what stage you’re at in your business, the right tools can:

  • Save you dozens of hours per week and a whole lotta
  • Automate new product development activities like project planning, product development, and managing your team.
  • Save you thousands of dollars or euros or any other currency on firefighting in your product development activities and doing things the hard way.

The trick is knowing the right ones to use.

When managing multi-disciplinary, international product development projects, I love to automate as much as possible in my daily activities.

These kinds of projects often take a lot of time and there are a lot of moving parts that complicate things and need to be managed well.

I have three favorite tools; I use every day. Here they come!

Tool number one: Microsoft Project.

I use Microsoft Project to plan in detail my new product development. Because it is so easy in this tool, to add automation when timing is shifting, it saves me tons of hours in adjusting new dates manually. You can also allocate team members to every deliverable and make the workload of your team visible. You can see at one glance who has capacity left, and who is fully booked. Easily plan your projects with the power of dynamic scheduling based on effort needed, project duration, and allotted team members. You can view your project as grid, board or timeline view, Microsoft Projects has lots of features.

For more complex projects with a lot of moving parts, Microsoft Project can be a good tool for you.

Check out their website for more details. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/project/project-management-software

Tool number two: Asana

To schedule my daily activities and to work with a team on certain topics, Asana is a very user friendly and a great collaboration tool. You can use the list and board views to see all the tasks. You can add these tasks in your calendar view as well and receive your to do’s every morning in your email. Asana also provides project planning features and timeline overview in the paid version. Even if you work alone, Asana is a great tool for your own project management activities and to keep your eye on the ball and stay focused on priorities. Check the Asana website for more details. https://asana.com

Tool number three: Spreadsheets

For my project management activities, I love to work with spreadsheets.

Excel or Numbers for example are very suitable for project calculations, simple project management plans, action plans, to-do lists, and checklists.

These spreadsheets are easy to use and can easily be shared with team members.

Product development doesn’t need to be complicated.

Let me show you how you can transform your new product idea into a thriving business.
